Jammu, Feb 22: A delegation of Kashmiri migrants today called on Chief Electoral Officer Jammu and Kashmir Hirdesh Kumar and apprised him about their demands as well as submitted their memorandum. Their demanded inclusion of KP member in council of ministers as they had been a precedence since 1947. “They demanded to confer political reservation to them by reserving 7 MLA seats for KPs in assembly constituencies /segments in UT, four seats in legislative council for migrants, one reserved seat each in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha”, they said.
Their other demands include simplification of election process with remove of all deficiencies in the updated electoral rolls of migrant voters /lists and issuances of EPICs and electoral rolls details of elections must be translated from Urdu to English. They appealed the CEO J&K to adopt a holistic approach to tackle the problems being faced by the displaced Kashmiri pundits. |
