Delimitation be based on 2021 census, with no capping of assembly seats: SSP
2/25/2021 10:34:48 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 25: Col Pathania, President Sainik Samaj Party, JKUT appreciated the call given by Lt Governor, inviting the views of various political parties, in the process of delimitation.
Extension of tenure of chairperson by another six months, again is a welcome step, and shows the intention of holding assembly elections at the earliest possible time frame.
However, few things are essential, before holding of election and union government as well Lt Governor, must deliberate on these critical issues, to ensure that a fair democratic system prevails.
Basing the delimitation on fresh census is imperative, as census of 2011 was highly fudged, manipulated and misleading, and was done with Kashmiri politicians to have a permanent edge on formulation of government.
Distribution of 46 seats to Kashmir and 37 to Jammu, and distinct advantage of 6 districts out of 10 in Jammu region, having Muslim majority, will always ensure, that government will always formed by Kashmir politicians.
This anomaly can only be corrected by an unbiased, fair and fresh census based on census of 2021.
Another important issue is government's announcement, made at the time of re organization of JKUT, conveying the capping of assembly seats to seven by delimitation commission.
Restricting the domain of delimitation commission, with terms of reference, imposed, will adversely affect the scope and fairness of the report of commission.
Pathania further stated that discrimination, exploitation and oppression of Jammu region people must stop and their aspirations must be met.
Release of six to seven seats of POK, must be done, to start a process of taking back the area, illegally occupied by Pakistan.
Sainik Samaj Party, JKUT is hopeful that suitable measures will be initiated by the government to further consolidate the integration of JKUT with Indian Union, which started post abrogation of article 370 and 35 A.
