| Extension lecture "Scientific Research and Entrepreneurship” held | | |

Jammu, Feb 27: On the eve of National Science Day (28th February) Govt. Degree College, Vijaypur organized an extension lecture on the topic "Scientific Research and Entrepreneurship” in which Dr. Rajesh Kumar Thapar, Director Racemic Molecules Pvt. Ltd, Gurgaon was the resource person having Ph.D from Zelinsky Institute of Organic Chemistry, Moscow.
He stressed that scientific entrepreneurship is currently a rage. Although it may be time consuming, getting large number of people interested in one's idea is the key. Ownership of one's ideas are more important than ever for scientists and engineers, because patents and other forms of intellectual property may equate to a substantial source of revenue.
If the University / College has a business school, find likeminded individuals to work with or tap into the professional brain power that may be available at low to no cost. If there is no Business school at one's University/College, determine which community resources are available to assist Bio-Tech or high-tech business start-ups.
Prof (Dr.) Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College expressed her gratitude to the resource person for sharing his expertise and experience and exhorted that gone are the days of simply training scientists and engineers just to work for someone else. Seeking individual freedom and financial independence and realising that an advanced degree alone does not necessarily help one to reach one's goals.
The whole event was coordinated by Dr. Ruchi and the organizing committee comprised of Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal (HOD Education) Dr. Sheetal Sharma (HOD Mathematics) and Renuka Kundal (HOD Political Science).
