Early Times Report jammu, Feb 27: The Covid-19 active cases across the country as well as in Jammu and Kashmir have once again been showing a worrisome upward trend but health safety protocols were found completely flouted during the conduct of Class-IV examination by Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board on Saturday. According to photographs available with Early Times, at different examination centres established by SSB in Jammu city, safety measures, which must be followed to check the flow of infections, were found totally compromised. In one photograph, aspirants could be seen standing outside the entrance of Ranbir Higher Secondary School Jammu. Though most of the aspirants had worn face masks but the guidelines regarding maintaining inter-people physical distance was totally compromised with aspirants found huddled together in such a way that it took few minutes to come out of the congregation. "There was paucity of enough space to cater such huge gathering at the entrance and when the aspirants gather to enter the examination hall, the gathering swell to large extent as the gates were closed", an aspirant said, adding that it was the primary responsibility of the examination-conducting authorities to make arrangements in such a way that physical distancing could be maintained. The aspirants had come from all nook and corners of Jammu and even if few of them had Covid-19 infections, then there is every possibility of its further spread. "It was the first day of the conduct of exams and considering the violation of guidelines as well as increasing number of infections, the authorities should make proper arrangements, so that health advisories should be followed at the examination centres, otherwise it will be too late", a teacher on duty at the examination centre said. Secretary JKSSB Sachin Jamwal was not available for comments. |
