Sexual harassment Cases against India Critic Nazir Ahmed highlight his actual image
Ankush Verma2/27/2021 10:08:26 PM
The United Kingdom's House of Lords Conduct Committee published a report almost two week ago on the conduct of former member Lord Nazir Ahmed, who has been an ardent supporter of Khalistani terror groups and a critic of the Indian Government policies, recommending that he should be expelled from the House. This recommendation came in aftermath of allegations of sexual harassment against him. The report discovered Lord Ahmed to have breached the Code of Conduct for "failing to behave on his private honour" over sexual assault and exploitation. He appealed against findings of the Commissioner for Standards to be dismissed. According to the almost 300-page report, one of the victims said that "when she requested Lord Ahmed for assist, he initially made undesirable bodily contact of a sexual nature along with her and later held out the promise of utilizing his affect to assist her, when the truth is his purpose was to have intercourse along with her." This lady was Zaman who had alleged that Ahmed sexually exploited her at numerous events at his second dwelling in London. Another sufferer accused the Lord of asking her to spend an evening with him in London in return for serving her husband in an enterprise tussle. The report also noted "by agreeing to use his position as a member of the House to help a member of the public, but then, sexually assaulting the complainant, lying to the complainant about his intentions to help her with a complaint to the Metropolitan Police regarding exploitation by a faith healer, exploiting the complainant emotionally and sexually despite knowing she was vulnerable." Not only this there are allegations of sexual harassment against him of two children in 1970s when he was a teenager. These allegations came to light in 2016 when a man and a woman contacted the police, more than 40 years after the alleged assaults took place.
Ahmed who in his whole career has been against India on moral conducts in Kashmir has himself been involved in immoral acts of sexual assaults and harassments. He has been an ardent supporter of Khalistan terror teams and a critic of the Indian authorities' insurance policies and India's stand on Kashmir issue. He had always enjoyed backing from Islamabad to run anti-India propaganda and do lobbying on the Kashmir Issue in the British Parliament. He claimed to have changed the Labour Party's policy on the 'Kashmir' issue and to have had it discussed on the floor of a conference organised by the Justice Foundation, whose then Director, Ghulam Nabi Fai, was arrested by US authorities for spying and illegal lobbying. US prosecutors reportedly alleged that Kashmir Centres of Justice Foundation in the UK, USA and Saudi Arabia were run on behalf of Pakistani government and its Inter-Services Intelligence Agency. During the 69th Republic Day celebrations at the office of the High Commission of India, Ahmed had organised a 'Black day' protest in which Indian flags were torn by hand and shredded under foot by Pakistani protesters. Ahmed had also hired five private billboard vans showing 'Free Kashmir' 'Free Khalistan', 'Free Assam', 'Free Nagaland' and 'Free Manipur'. He has been in the forefront of demonstrations outside the High Commission of India, including efforts to mobilise crowds to join these so-called protests, believed to have been orchestrated by Pakistan. Important occasions like visits of dignitaries from India, Indian Independence Day and Republic Day have been special targets. He was involved in organising the large and violent crowds that gathered outside India House in London on India's Independence Day on 15th August 2019, when a group of innocent Indians celebrating the occasion were attacked.
During the #MeToo movement a bunch of Kashmiri girls in London had launched a Hollywood model #MeToo protest marketing campaign in opposition to politicians together with Nazir and religion healers who're exploiting susceptible girls within the Kashmiri group, the committee report had said. He is also facing serious allegations of an extra-marital sexual relationship with a vulnerable woman. An incident of the past decade is also a backlash on his face where he was once convicted and jailed in 2007 for texting while driving before a crash that killed a man. He spent some time in prison before getting a bail-out. Nazir Ahmed is no stranger to controversy. Apparently, he has stated incorrectly in subsequent interviews that he had no criminal record and his sentence had been overturned. In a replay of his earlier alleged antisemitic remarks, The Times newspaper of London revealed that he had blamed a Jewish conspiracy for his driving conviction. Nazir Ahmed seems to have had a knack for making bizarre claims. He claimed in 2012 that the attack on Malala Yusufzai could have been carried out by unknown elements in Pakistan to discredit the Taliban, though he later accepted that he had no idea of what had happened.
A man who is deeply entrenched in immorality, illegal actions, baseless claims and accusations, claims to champion the Kashmir Cause, which depicts a clear distinction between his sayings and doings. His conducts also raise serious questions about the validity of the moral high ground that UK Parliament or its members often adopt while denigrating the democratic institutions in a democracy like India.
