Jammu, Feb 28: Former Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday grieved over the death of the son of Krishna Dhaba’s owner. On Sunday, eleven days after being fired upon here, 25-year-old Akash Kumar succumbed to the wounds at a hospital in Srinagar, officials said on Sunday. Taking to his Twitter handle, Omar Abdullah the National Conference leader said, “Very sad news about Akash, son of the owner of Krishna Dhaba in Srinagar. After a brave fight he lost the battle to recover from injuries suffered in the earlier attack. May his soul rest in peace & may his family find strength at this difficult time,” Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party, President, Mehbooba Mufti expressed shock over the death, “Shocked & saddened to know that Akash Mehra who ran Krishna Dhaba in Srinagar succumbed to his injuries after being shot at by militants. May his soul rest in peace & deepest condolences to the bereaved family.” Mehbooba tweeted. Akash , a resident of Janipur Jammu, at present Dalgate Srinagar, died at the SMHS hospital at around 3:20 am. He had bullet wound in right side of lower armpit and abdomen. He was ventilator, they said. On 19 February, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar while addressing a press conference in Srinagar said that three bike-borne newly recruited militants were arrested for carrying out the attack. He said that the bike and pistol used in the attack by the trio have been seized. He said all three arrested were newly recruited militants and “confessed” to have carried out the attack. |
