JAMMU, Mar 20: United Democratic Alliance (UDA), J&K today urged Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to make wearing of masks compulsory across the J&K UT to combat spread of coronavirus. “It is noted that persons are not complying with directions for use of face cover therefore LG must direct general population within the UT to compile with government instruction in order to safeguard human life and health,” UDA Convenor Rajiv Mahajan said in a statement issued here on Saturday. He appealed all persons moving for whatsoever purpose and under whatever reason/authority in public places like street, hospital, office, market, etc must compulsorily wear a mask. No person/official will attend any meeting/gathering without wearing masks, he said. “The main benefit of all people wearing masks is that in infected persons, the mask will help prevent droplets from getting into the air and infecting others. They are thus reducing the spread of infection to others,” he said adding that wearing face masks therefore protects the user and also the others around.
