| NABARD organizes Inter-State Exposure visit for farmers of Distt Poonch | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 20: NABARD, J&K Regional Office sponsored an Inter-State Exposure visit for 24 progressive farmers of district Poonch to Palampur in Himachal Pradesh under ‘Scheme for Capacity Building for Adoption of Technology (CAT) through exposure visits and training’. The visit has been facilitated by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Poonch) which has been selected as resource agency for the purpose.
The exposure visit was flagged of by Guriqbal Singh, DGM-NABARD in presence of Kanav Sharma, DDM-NABARD and Dr. Ajay Gupta, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Poonch
Speaking on the occasion, Kanav Sharma, DDM-NABARD informed that the group of farmers will visit Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishav Vidyalaya, Palampur to get acquainted with the latest technologies in the field of agriculture like propagation of temperate fruits, protected agriculture and natural farming, integrated fish farming, organic farming in hilly areas, hilly area specific modern agriculture tools and implements etc. He further informed that the visiting farmers will also interact with the local farmers, visit the farms and demonstration units during the three-day exposure visit.
Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Poonch informed that keeping in view the importance and economics of scientific cultivation and shifting the focus of farmers from traditional farming to market oriented farming, the participation in such melas and exposure to areas of diverse agriculture is the need of hour. Such events help the rational farmers to visualize latest farming technologies, improved varieties of different crops and exchange and enhance the latest knowledge related to farming, he particularized. He thanked the NABARD for funding the visit and highlighted its role in extending its support for organization of such events.
Among the others, Dr. Muzaffar Mir, Scientist KVK Poonch and other officers of KVK-Poonch were also present during the flag off event. |
