Labourer tests positive, admin orders mass testing of outsiders in Kupwara

Kupwara, Mar 31: A 30-year-old non-local labourer tested positive for COVID-19 in Sogam area of Kupwara district on Wednesday.
After the labourer tested positive the district administration took samples of his primary contacts and directed concerned to prioritize sampling of all outside labourers engaged in different works in Kupwara district.
“The health authorities have been directed to prepare a list of all the non-local labourers in the district and to prioritize their sampling on immediate basis,” the top-level district officer said.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that at least five students and staff members in two government schools in Baramulla district tested positive forcing authorities to order their closure for five and two days respectively.
However, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Baramulla G M Lone has issued a circular today vide no: CEO/Bla/Inv/59680-800 dated 31/03/2021 that reads, “All the heads of Govt/Private schools of district Baramulla are put under strict instructions to intimate this office on daily basis about the prevalence/reporting of any Covid positive case from students/staff of your institution.
It is to keep a track of the situation and to facilitate the district administration to take necessary preventive steps in this regard like mass testing/fumigation if schools or suspension of class work if needed,” the circular said.
