Srinagar, Mar 31: Water level in river Kishanganga passing through border town of Gurez in north Kashmir district of Bandipora before entering Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) has increased considerably after an avalanche fell in the river on Wednesday, official said. However, officials said alert has been sounded in two villages on the bank of river after water level has started increasing. They said police, SDRF and Revenue department teams have been rushed to these villages to meet any eventuality in the event of floods. They said no resident has been shifted. However, people living on both sides of the river have been asked to remain alert and take precautions to meet any challenge, they added. An avalanche fell in the river blocking the water flow before enter POK. |
