SRINAGAR, Apr 1: The second wave of Corona Virus is spreading its tentacles across Jammu & Kashmir with hundreds getting infected with every passing day. Records are tumbling in this regard and over the past couple of days more deaths are also being reported. The union territory reported 461 fresh cases of the virus in the past 24 hours following which total number of positive cases reached 1, 31,421. With four deaths being reported during the same time period the number of casualties due to the virus reached 1,998. Srinagar district reported 157 new cases including 44 travelers followed by Baramulla district 76 cases, Jammu district 61 cases, Kulgam district 49 cases, Budgam district 26 cases, Kathua district 21 cases, Anantnag district 19 cases, Pulwama and Kupwara districts 10 cases each, Ganderbal and Samba districts six cases each, Bandipora district five cases, Udhampur and Rajouri districts four cases each, Shopian and Poonch districts three cases each and Doda district one case. Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal and Rajouri districts each reported a fresh death. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 461 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 100 from Jammu division and 361 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 31,421. Also four COVID-19 deaths have been reported, one from Jammu division and three from Kashmir division. Moreover, 114 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 36 from Jammu division and 78 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 31,421 positive cases, 2,874 are active positive, 1, 26,549 have recovered and 1,998 have died; 737 in Jammu division and 1,261 in Kashmir division. Out of 60, 89,662 test results available, 59, 58,241 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 15, 15,253 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 34,928 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 2,874 in isolation and 1, 23,318in home surveillance. Besides, 13, 52,135 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 29,219 positive cases, 1,158 active positive, 27,589 recovered, 472 deaths; Baramulla has 8,924 positive cases, 415 active positive, 8,328 recovered, 181 deaths; Budgam has 8,234 positive cases, 180 active positive, 7,934 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 6,002 positive cases, 88 active positive, 5,882 recovered, 92 deaths and Kupwara has 5,817 positive cases, 76 active positive, 5,644 recovered, 97 deaths. "Anantnag has 5,194 positive cases, 58 active positive, 5,042 recovered, 94 deaths; Bandipora has 4,768 positive cases, 33 active positive, 4,672 recovered, 63 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,723 positive cases, 28 active positive, 4,647 recovered, 48 deaths; Kulgam has 2,848 positive cases, 88 active positive, 2,706 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,651 positive cases, 26 active positive, 2,585 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,973 positive cases, 519 active positive, 25,073 recovered, 381 deaths; Udhampur has 4,365 positive cases, 31active positive, 4,277 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,899 positive cases, 16 active positive, 3,827 recovered, 56 deaths; Doda has 3,456 positive cases, six active positive, 3,386 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,350 positive cases, 65 active positive, 3,232 recovered, 53 deaths. "Samba has 2,867 positive cases, 19 active positive, 2,807 recovered, 41 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,756 positive cases, 17 active positive, 2,717 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,551 positive cases, 23 active positive, 2,502 recovered, 26 deaths; Ramban has 2,159 positive cases, 21 active positive, 2,117 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,665 positive cases, seven active positive, 1,642 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 31,421 positive cases in J&K, 13,451 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
