JAMMU, Apr 1: A close aide of former Chief Minister of J&K State, was allegedly hired by the Jammu & Kashmir Board for Muslim Specified Waqfs, as no post exists in the board, against which he was engaged. Members of civil society Srinagar alleged that more than Rs 15 lakh spent on a retired bureaucrat including his salary and other expenses, during his two years stay in the board. “Around Rs 13 Lakh rupees paid to him as salary by the Waqfs Board for two years and more than Rs 3 lakh spent for a vehicle allotted to him during his stay in the board”, claimed the members of civil society. “His appointment was illegal. Though services of the blue eyed retired government official, who parachuted in the Waqf Board using his political connection, did nothing for the betterment of the board. He played divide and rule during his stay in the board”, said a civil society member, adding that his posting in the board was a major setback to this semi government institution. “Officials of the board who did not surrender before the autocratic and illegal boss, thrown out of the head and posted on irrelevant posts. Instead of tapping potential of experience and competent officials of the board, he victimized them for speaking in the interests of board”, they said. “We appeal to the Advisor to Lt. Guv Farooq Khan who is also chairperson of the board to constitute an inquiry into his unjustified engagement in the board against a non-existing post. Salary paid to him should be recovered back”, they said, adding that to prevent misuse of board resources and money, the advisor should keep a check in the functioning of the board. “Govt should take pain to strengthen the Waqf Board, it is a school of thought and Sufism, and the same need to be respected and prevented from being ruined by the people of other ideologies”, they urged.be respected and prevented from being ruined by the people of other ideologies”, they urged. |
