JAMMU, Apr 4: Tawi Trekkers J&K, the biggest trekking club of J&K, would give more thrust to Adventure Picnics/short treks to unfrequented and lesser known beauty spots especially heritage and pilgrim sights of Jammu in order to bring them on the tourism map of Jammu. Accordingly, this year the club’s activities shall commence with circumambulation (parikrama) of Trikuta Hills (Vaishno Devi Shrine), a 3 days trek from Katra to Katra via Tote, Sukhalghati and Jangle Gali in the first week of May, 2021. It was announced by Ram Khajuria, President of the Club, while highlighting the detail of activities included in the Calendar of Activities of the Club for the year 2021-22, which was released in a simple function held at Press Club of Jammu. Patrons of the club Ashwani Sharma, former MLA and Rahul Sharma, Chairman, Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu released the Calendar of Activities along with Co-Chairman of the Club Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Secretary General Press Club Jammu; Ram Khajuria & Shawetica Khajuria, President and General Secretary of the club; Prem Sadotra, legal advisor of the club; Vivek Chauhan, Principal, Oriental Academy Sr. Sec. School, Jammu; Bal Krishan Sharma, Director Agriculture (Law Enforcement) Sushil Singh, Sumit Khajuria, Shashi Kant and Sonam Sidharth, senior members; Rakesh Goswami of Shivalik Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Club, Jammu and Bhaibav Sharma. Highlighting the activities to be undertaken by the club this year President of the club Ram Khajuria mentioned that last year most of the activities could not be undertaken due to Covid 19 and therefore have been included in this year’s program. Accordingly, the club shall organize three trekking expeditions in Dhauladhar Range in Himachal Pradesh including one to Triund (10000ft) for Junior members and an expedition to Minkiani Pass (14000ft) for senior members and a trek from Dalhousie to Chamba exclusively for senior citizens. Besides, a Heritage Trekking Programme in Kangra area of Himachal Pradesh shall also be organized for about 200 students during the months of October to December, 2021. Another challenging adventure of the club is an ambitious 12 days high altitude trekking expedition in Gulap area of Leh. The club plans to depute only 8 members for this prestigious expedition to be organized from 7th to 18th August, 2021. Besides, the club shall also organize a small, low budget mountaineering expedition to Mun peak in Dhauladhar range of Dharamshala in June 2021. However, the club is also focused on a prestigious international expedition to Mount Elbrus, the highest peak of Europe in Russia. Subject to opening up of international flights and finalization of all other arrangements, the club has planned to depute a four member team to this unique expedition in May, 2021. |
