JEHANGIR RASHID Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 8: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir continues to witness unprecedented hike in fresh Corona Virus cases with 835 people getting infected in the past 24 hours; the death toll reached 2,019 following one fresh death in Kashmir valley. Srinagar reported 349 new cases including 61 travelers followed by Jammu district 148 cases, Baramulla district 74 cases, Reasi district 47 cases, Udhampur district 35 cases, Kupwara district 31 cases, Budgam district 24 cases, Anantnag district 22 cases, Kathua district 20 cases, Bandipora and Kulgam districts 18 cases each, Rajouri district nine cases, Pulwama and Samba districts eight cases each, Ganderbal district seven cases, Shopian, Doda and Kishtwar districts four cases each, Poonch district three cases and Ramban district two cases. Baramulla district reported a virus related death in the past 24 hours. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 835 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 280 from Jammu division and 555 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 35,662. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir division. Moreover, 246 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 22 from Jammu division and 224 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 35,662 positive cases, 5,623 are active positive, 1, 28,020 have recovered and 2,019 have died; 745 in Jammu division and 1,274 in Kashmir division. Out of 63, 73,912 test results available, 62, 38,250 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 15, 75,505 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 59,857 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 5,623 in isolation and 1, 24,174 in home surveillance. Besides, 13, 83,832 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 30,758 positive cases, 2,027 active positive, 28,254 recovered, 477 deaths; Baramulla has 9,436 positive cases, 701 active positive, 8,553 recovered, 182 deaths; Budgam has 8,517 positive cases, 355 active positive, 8,040 recovered, 122 deaths; Pulwama has 6,058 positive cases, 129 active positive, 5,837 recovered, 92 deaths; Kupwara has 5,937 positive cases, 144 active positive, 5,696 recovered, 97 deaths. "Anantnag has 5,305 positive cases, 136 active positive, 5,073 recovered, 96 deaths; Bandipora has 4,859 positive cases, 109 active positive, 4,687 recovered, 63 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,780 positive cases, 70 active positive, 4,661 recovered, 49 deaths; Kulgam has 2,988 positive cases, 213 active positive, 2,719 recovered, 56 deaths and Shopian has 2,691 positive cases, 51 active positive, 2,600 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 26,678 positive cases, 1,015 active positive, 25,277 recovered, 386 deaths; Udhampur has 4,543 positive cases, 197 active positive, 4,288 recovered, 58 deaths; Rajouri has 3,937 positive cases, 50 active positive, 3,831 recovered, 56 deaths; Doda has 3,482 positive cases, 26 active positive, 3,392 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,464 positive cases, 115 active positive, 3,296 recovered, 53 deaths. "Samba has 2,908 positive cases, 59 active positive, 2,808 recovered, 41 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,770 positive cases, 14 active positive, 2,734 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,570 positive cases, 33 active positive, 2,511 recovered, 26 deaths; Ramban has 2,171 positive cases, 29 active positive, 2,119 recovered, 23 deaths and Reasi has 1,810 positive cases, 150 active positive, 1,644 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 35,662 positive cases in J&K, 14,363 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
