Attempt to change name of Rajiv Gandhi Hospital will be terrible: Satish Sharma | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 10: Former Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) chairman and senior Congress leader Satish Sharma has warned the BJP governed Municipal Corporation that if the BJP attempts to rename Rajiv Gandhi Hospital then the consequences would be terrible. The Congress will protest on the streets and the corporation decision will be challenged in the court as well. Satish said these things while addressing journalists in his office on Saturday. He said that BJP councilors of Gangyal brought forward the proposal to the house and said that this hospital has no name, it seems BJP councilor is not fully aware of details of this hospital. He said that the construction work of the new building of this Rajiv Gandhi Hospital started during the UPA government and the then Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, then Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and then Housing Minister at the cost of 70 crores. The foundation stone of the new building of this 100 bedded Rajiv Gandhi Hospital is still in the hospital premises. It would have been better that the local councilors before going to the corporation's house should have done their homework on the details of the hospital and before bringing the proposal. Satish said that this hospital does not come under the corporation because it is operated by Director Health, so if its name is to be changed then the government can do it and not the Municipal Corporation He said that we warn the BJP that instead of changing the name, it will be better if they do some work for the people themselves because changing the name of Hospitals, Universities and Colleges built during the Congress rule, is not called development. |
