Kartikeya, Tamanna, Puneesh shine in 58th National Roller Skating Championship | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Apr 17: Kartikeya Puri, Tamanna Saini and Puneesh Puri shined in speed skating (quads) by clinching top slots in the most coveted 58th National Roller Skating Championship held at Mohali, Punjab. The aforesaid young skaters brought laurels to the Union Territory by their phenomenal performances in the national event despite disruptions in the practice sessions due to restrictions imposed on account of lethal Coronavirus. Showing extraordinary grit and highest degree of agility, Kartikeya Puri bagged the much deserved gold medal in 3 Km Road Race in under 17 years category (Boys) proving supremacy of Union Territory of J&K over all the states and UTs in the country. In 9-11 years category (Girls), Tamanna Saini showcased amazing swiftness and speed to seal second position in the 1000 meters Rink Race and third slot in one lap Road Race thus bagging one silver and one bronze for the year 2020 as the tournament was held in April after the delay of about four months due to COVID-19 curbs. Another star performer from J&K UT in the 58th National Roller Skating Championship was Puneesh Puri, who did wonders by grabbing a bronze medal in 1000 meters Rink Race during his entry stage into the next higher group of 9-11 years category (Boys). Congratulating the champions on phone, President J&K Roller Skating Association Gurcharan Singh Khurmi lauded their zeal and dexterity that helped them to trounce their opponents in the races. Parents of the medal winners thanked International Skater Arjun Gandotra for sharing his experience from time to time and guiding young skaters to the path of Victory at the Country's Biggest Roller Skating event. |
