Shocking: PCC chief says Covid situation is not so serious in J&K | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 17: Sounds, incredible but true! Jammu and Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir on Saturday said that the covid situation in Union Territory was not so serious to defer this year’s annual Durbar Move. Mir smelt a conspiracy in deferring Durbar Move to Srinagar just to deprive people of Kashmir Valley of governance at their door steps. “Covid situation is not so serious in J&K. The government has taken excuse of coronavirus to defer this year’s annual Durbar Move”, Mir said and charged the J&K government with hatching conspiracies to cheat the people. “The Government has set a very wrong precedent by not opening Durbar at Srinagar during summer. The decision of deferring Durbar Move should be revoked at once”, he demanded and alleged that the administration was hell-bent to take anti-people decisions. “Every day thousands of vehicles are moving from Jammu to Srinagar so there is no reason to defer Durbar Move”, he argued, adding, “If the government cannot shift Durbar then it means that situation is out of control of the administration”. Amid a surge in coronavirus cases, the J&K the government on Thursday had decided to defer this year's annual Durbar Move practice ensuring the safety of its employees. The government, however, said that the Secretariat will work in both the capital cities of J&K - Jammu, and Srinagar for the smooth functioning of the system. “As J&K is witnessing a surge in the number of Covid cases, the threat it poses to people/ staff on the move, and the implementation of e-Office in both the Secretariat, in move offices, it has been decided to defer the #DurbarMove this time", Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha had tweeted from his official Twitter handle. The Lt Governor, however, said that the Secretariat will function in both Srinagar and Jammu with staff equitably split between two secretaries and will function from both locations in an equitable manner. Office functioning will not be affected as files to move electronically between both Secretariats in e-Office. Earlier during the period of six months when Durbar works from Srinagar - the winter capital of J&K, there was the provision of 'Summer Secretariat' in Jammu just to address day-to-day problems of the people but now the government is working in two capital cities simultaneously. The government has already decided not to physically move files and records from Jammu to Srinagar and vice-versa to minimize the financial burden of the annual 'Durbar Move' practice on the state exchequer. |
