101 cases decided; Rs 17.32 crore settled

JAMMU, Apr 17: On the direction of Chairman National Legal Services Authority and under the aegis of Patron-in-Chief and Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority, Justice Ali Mohammed Magre, a National Lok Adalat was today held in the District Court Complex, Janipur Jammu under the Chairmanship of M.L. Manhas" Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Jammu.
A total five benches were constituted at District. The first bench was presided over by M. L. Manhas, Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Jammu, assisted by R. S. Jasrotia, Presiding Officer, MACT, Jammu and Syed Saifraz Hussain Shah, Addl, Distt. Judge, (Bank Cases) Jammu and it dealt with MACT and Bank cases.
The second Bench comprising Ritesh Dubey, Addl. Judge, anti-corruption, Jammu, Ashwani Kumar Sharma, 1st Additional District & Sessions Judge, Jammu and S.S. Bali, Additional District Judge, (Matrimonial cases) dealt with Matrimonial Cases.
The third Bench comprised Kishore Kumar, Additional District Judge, Jammu and M.S. Parihar, Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Jammu dealt with Civil Cases.
The fourth bench consisting Manjeet Rai, City Judge, Jammu and Umesh Sharma, Special Excise Magistrate, Jammu, dealt with cases related to u/s 138 NI Act, 488/125, Cr.PC, Domestic Violence Act cases & Criminal compoundable offense.
The Fifth Bench comprising Arti Mohan, Electricity, Magistrate, Jammu and Pravin Pandoh, Special Municipal Magistrate, Jammu dealt with civil cases, Municipal, Electricity bills, Water bills & Revenue Cases
A total 343 cases were taken up, out of which 101 cases were decided. Rs. 173256879.63 (Seventeen crore, thirty two lakh, fifty six thousand eight hundred and Seventy nine only) was settled in the Lok Adalat. Lok Adalat Benches were also constituted at Tehsil Headquarters at Akhnoor, Bishnah, and R.S. Pura which were presided over by respective Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committees.
