NLA decides 112 cases, settles Rs 19.19 lakh amount

UDHAMPUR, Apr 17: Under the vision of Justice Pankaj Mithal , Chief Justice High Court of J&K and Patron-in-Chief J&K Legal Services Authority and the able guidance of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Executive Chairman J&K SLSA, a National Lok Adalat was today organized by the District Legal Services Authority Udhampur at the District Court complex under the chairmanship of DLSA Chairman,Y.P Bourney, who is also the Principal District and Sessions Judge.
A total 159 cases of different nature were taken up in Lok Adalat by six benches out of which 112 cases were decided with a settlement amount of Rs. 19,19,375.
Out of total amount realized, 15,43,000 was awarded as compensation in six motor accident claims and Rs 3,22,025 in 29 Bank Recovery cases. The National Lok Adalat was held under strict guidelines of Covid -19 issued by Hon’ble High Court .
Six benches were constituted with the First Bench comprising Y.P. Bourney, Principal District & Sessions Judge, Udhampur, & Additional Session Judge S.C Katal, second Bench consists of B.A Munshi,CJM Udhampur and Shafeeq Ahmed District Mobile Magistrate Traffic Udhampur, the thrid Comprises of Rajni Sharma Sub Judge ,Secretary DLSA Udhampur & Kamiya Singh Andotra( Munsiff JMIC) udhampur.
Fourth bench consisted of Smritri Sharma Sub Judge, Chairman TLSC Ramnagar and Advocate K. D Sharma. Bench number five comprised of Amandeep Kour, Munsiff Chenani, Advocate Balwan Singh & Advocate A. S Katoch , Bench number six comprised of Priyanka Mahajan Munsiff Majalta and Adv M.L Gupta and Advocate Devinder Singh.
