5/4/2021 11:39:21 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, May 4: Amid reports of non-availability of oxygen to home isolated patients, BJP also joined the opposition in alleging black-marketing of the lifesaving gas. Allegation of oxygen black-marketing was leveled by none other than former Deputy Chief Minister and ex-Speaker of the J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta.
While as other BJP leaders have gone into hibernation due to threat of deadly virus, Kavinder Gupta has issued a handout in which he highlighted problems being faced by the people due to wrong decisions are taken by the administration.
Reliable sources said people in distress, across Jammu region is approaching BJP leaders for help but to no avail. “Most of the BJP leaders have switched off their mobile phones. And those who have not switched off, they are not responding to peoples’ call”, sources said and added that helpless people are now directly approaching BJP leaders at their homes.
It was only after a group of people approached Kavinder Gupta and sought his intervention to streamline the things in Jammu province that he issued a handout. “It seems that the Union Territory administration is taking decisions of far-reaching impact without any proper assessment of the the ground situation”, Kavinder stated and highlighted problems being faced by the patients with various ailments who are required to be administered oxygen at home on a regular basis besides the issue of small traders who have been the worst hit by the lockdown decision.
Kavinder said that though there was a necessity to take certain tough measures to stop black marketing of oxygen cylinders to ensure smooth supply of oxygen to COVID-19 patients but it should not be at the cost of those patients who require oxygen at home for other ailments.
He said that he has been receiving repeated calls from the persons across the City of Temples that they are unable to fetch oxygen for their ailing family members who require it regularly at home.
