Early Times Report

Jammu, May 7: In a statement to the media, President, The Jammu Pharmaceutical Distributors Association Rakesh Gupta updated about the developments after the last PC by JPDA on April 28. He also listed new demands to the JK UT Administration and also gave new suggestions to handle the devastating Covid Pandemic more effectively to save human lives.,
Gupta thanked the Union Government for allocation of Inj Remdesiver and Inj Toclizumab after the JPDA raised the issue of non allocation of these much needed medicines to the JK UT. He also apprised the media that now these Injections are available with the JK Medical Supplies Corporation who have distributed the same to the Hospitals across J&K .
However, he expressed his dis-satisfaction on the slow pace of work of installing Oxygen Plants. He also thanked the UT Administration for agreeing to their demand of exhibiting the bed availability online.
The President JPDA appealed LG Shri Manoj Sinha that it would be a real, sincere and the greatest tribute to suffering humanity and to Late Sh. Jagmohan Malhotra former Governor J&K if an urgent meeting of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine board is convened under its Chairman to allocate massive funds and authorize the board to procure Oxygen Concentrators / Ventilators / Oxygen Plants / Oxygen Cylinders / Pulse Oxymeters etc whatever is needed in this moment of crisis for treatment of Covid 19 positive patients and also to establish temporary facilities of Oxygen Beds wherever needed and possible .
The JPDA President thanked the PM for exemption of Customs Duty on the import of Oxygen Concentrators for a limited period and also appealed to him to be kind enough and announce immediate exemption of GST & IGST on all Life Saving Medicines / Medical Equipment / Gadgets and Sanitization related products including Sanitizers and Sanitizing Machines needed to fight the prevailing Pandemic Imported from abroad and sold within India on the same lines.
Further , he suggested to extend the Lockdown in Jammu further after assessing the situation, allow private Hospitals / Clinics and Nursing Homes to buy Vaccines directly from the manufacturers for vaccination as aged people cannot stand in the long queues flouting social distancing norms, increase the Vaccination Centers for 18 - 44 yrs, use the JDA massive parking at Jammu bus stand as Drive thru Vaccination place as done in other parts of India, start door to door vaccination if feasible, allow functioning of only the Essential Services Government departments so that there are less people on the roads, engage retired doctors and para medical staff to handle the increasing number of covid positive patients, make a Senior Doctor Incharge of every Covid Ward, monitor all Covid wards through CCTV or Drones for effective working, allow the business people on rotational basis to open their shops for maintenance purposes as many shops and stores have perishable goods too, allow Oxygen Cylinders for other ailments too .
