SRINAGAR, May 7: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir continues to witness a spike in new Corona Virus cases with record 5,443 cases being reported in the past 24 hours following which the total number of positive cases reached 2, 06,954. The death toll reached 2,612 with 50 people dying during the same period of time. Srinagar district reported 1,071 cases followed by Jammu district 639 cases, Anantnag district 568 cases, Baramulla district 496 cases, Budgam district 384 cases, Kulgam district 344 cases, Rajouri district 300 cases, Udhampur district 292 cases, Kathua district 226 cases, Kupwara district 198 cases, Ganderbal district 169 cases, Shopian district 134 cases, Samba district 121 cases, Pulwama district 118 cases, Poonch district 95 cases, Bandipora district 93 cases, Ramban district 67 cases, Reasi district 52 cases, Kishtwar district 39 cases and Doda district 37 cases. Jammu district reported 24 fresh COVID-19 deaths followed by Srinagar district seven deaths, Rajouri district four deaths, Anantnag three deaths, Baramulla and Shopian districts two deaths each and Ramban, Kupwara, Bandipora & Ganderbal districts one death each. Four were brought dead to home. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 5,443 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,868 from Jammu division and 3,575 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 06,954. Also 50 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 29 from Jammu division and 21 from Kashmir division. Moreover, 2,752 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 954 from Jammu division and 1,798 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 06,954 positive cases, 44,307 are active positive, 1, 60,035 have recovered and 2,612 have died; 1,097 in Jammu division and 1,515 in Kashmir division. Out of 75, 57,656 test results available, 73, 50,702 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 18, 85,550 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 87,419 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 44,307 in isolation and 1, 23,485 in home surveillance. Besides, 16, 27,727 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 51,361 positive cases, 10,800 active positive, 39,964 recovered, 597 deaths; Baramulla has 15,480 positive cases, 3,734 active positive, 11,535 recovered, 211 deaths; Budgam has 12,967 positive cases, 2,863 active positive, 9,968 recovered, 136 deaths; Anantnag has 9,206 positive cases, 2,989 active positive, 6,099 recovered, 118 deaths; Pulwama has 8,519 positive cases, 2,026 active positive, 6,378 recovered, 115 deaths. “Kupwara has 7,941 positive cases, 1,402 active positive, 6,434 recovered, 105 deaths; Ganderbal has 6,089 positive cases, 864 active positive, 5,172 recovered, 53 deaths; Bandipora has 6,073 positive cases, 731 active positive, 5,276 recovered, 66 deaths; Kulgam has 5,894 positive cases, 2,477 active positive, 3,347 recovered, 70 deaths and Shopian has 3,691 positive cases, 850 active positive, 2,797 recovered, 44 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 38,645 positive cases, 787 active positive, 30,945 recovered, 613 deaths; Udhampur has 7,182 positive cases, 1,281 active positive, 5,830 recovered, 71 deaths; Rajouri has 6,158 positive cases, 2,075 active positive, 3,998 recovered, 85 deaths; Kathua has 5,602 positive cases, 1,155 active positive, 4,377 recovered, 70 deaths; Samba has 4,528 positive cases, 1,455 active positive, 3,006 recovered, 67 deaths. “Doda has 4,080 positive cases, 433 active positive, 3,577 recovered, 70 deaths; Reasi has 3,838 positive cases, 559 active positive, 3,259 recovered, 20 deaths; Poonch has 3,478 positive cases, 772 active positive, 2,660 recovered, 46 deaths; Kishtwar has 3,132 positive cases, 196 active positive, 2,912 recovered, 24 deaths and Ramban has 3,090 positive cases, 558 active positive, 2,501 recovered, 31 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 06,954 positive cases, 20,286 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
