Jammu, May 7: IMFA Jammu has condoled the sad demise of young sitar player of country, Prof Prateek Chaudhuri who expired last night due to Corona, within a couple of days after his illustrious father Pandit Debu Chaudhuri left for his heavenly abode. Prateek Chaudhuri was a renowned sitar player of Seniya Gharana. Ph.D from Delhi University, Prateek Chaudhuri was teaching sitar in the Music department, faculty of Music and Fine Arts, Delhi University. A sitarist of repute of the country, North Indian Classical Instrumental Music (Sitar), Musicology, Development of Stringed Instruments, Creative music, Fusion & Crossover forms of Music, Creation of different concepts for performing thereby presenting Indian Classical Music in various forms making it interesting to the layman and also creating unique concept programmes like Soul of India, Sitars of India, World Music Fusion concerts, Murchhnana Paddhati Concept Concerts, which have been widely appreciated by connoisseurs and audience alike. He has been honoured by Sangeet Ratna Award (Delhi), Jadubhatta Award (Kolkata),Pandit Nikhil Banerjee Award (Lucknow), Surmani Award (Mumbai), Delhi State Award (Delhi), Yuva Ratna Award (Delhi) and Best Musician Award (Delhi) He also performed for various important dignitaries of the world including President Bill Clinton, President Abdul Kalam, President R. Venkataraman, President Shankar Dayal Sharma, Prime Minister of Norway, Bosnia, etc.
