SRINAGAR, May 13: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 4,365 new cases of COVID-19 following which the total number of positive cases reached 2, 33,763. With 55 fresh deaths being reported in the past 24 hours the death toll due to the virus reached 2,967. Srinagar district reported 872 new cases followed by Jammu district 624 cases, Anantnag district 304 cases, Budgam district 288 cases, Udhampur district 282 cases, Pulwama district 262 cases, Baramulla district 228 cases, Rajouri district 227 cases, Kupwara district 186 cases, Kulgam district 165 cases, Kathua district 157 cases, Bandipora district 118 cases, Samba district 107 cases, Poonch district 94 cases, Ganderbal district 92 cases, Doda district 82 cases, Kishtwar district 80 cases, Reasi district 75 cases, Shopian district 70 cases and Ramban district 43 cases. Jammu district reported 20 fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by Srinagar district 12 deaths, Rajouri district six deaths, Kathua and Ganderbal districts three deaths each, Udhampur, Samba and Baramulla districts two deaths each and Poonch, Reasi, Budgam, Bandipora & Kulgam districts one death each. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 4,365 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,771 from Jammu division and 2,585 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 33,763. Also 55 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 35 from Jammu division and 20 from Kashmir division. Moreover, 2,995 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,228 from Jammu division and 1767 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 33,763 positive cases, 52,848 are active positive, 1, 77,948 have recovered and 2,967 have died; 1332 in Jammu division and 1,635 in Kashmir division. Out of 78, 19,421 test results available, 75, 85,658 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 19, 43,876 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 80,929 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 52,848 in isolation and 1, 27,948 in home surveillance. Besides, 16, 79,184 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 56,416 positive cases, 10,687 active positive, 45,078 recovered, 651 deaths; Baramulla has 17,533 positive cases, 4,098 active positive, 13,220 recovered, 215 deaths; Budgam has 15,132 positive cases, 3,987 active positive, 10,998 recovered, 147 deaths; Anantnag has 11,063 positive cases, 4,166 active positive, 6,788 recovered, 129 deaths; Pulwama has 10,008 positive cases, 2,511 active positive, 7,368 recovered, 129 deaths. “Kupwara has 8,974 positive cases, 1,744 active positive, 7,118 recovered, 112 deaths; Kulgam has 7,300 positive cases, 3,443 active positive, 3,782 recovered, 75 deaths; Ganderbal has 6,638 positive cases, 1,087 active positive, 5,490 recovered, 61 deaths; Bandipora has 6,617 positive cases, 875 active positive, 5,670 recovered, 72 deaths and Shopian has 4,316 positive cases, 1,304 active positive, 2,968 recovered, 44 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 42,442 positive cases, 7,589 active positive, 34,095 recovered, 758 deaths; Udhampur has 8,266 positive cases, 1,557 active positive, 6,622 recovered, 87 deaths; Rajouri has 7,451 positive cases, 3060 active positive, 4,277 recovered, 114 deaths; Kathua has 6,770 positive cases, 1,579 active positive, 5,103 recovered, 88 deaths; Samba has 5,203 positive cases, 1,670 active positive, 3,456 recovered, 77 deaths. “Doda has 4,519 positive cases, 776 active positive, 3,671 recovered, 72 deaths; Reasi has 4,283 positive cases, 642 active positive, 3,619 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 3,958 positive cases, 1,008 active positive, 2,899 recovered, 51 deaths; Ramban has 3,461 positive cases, 668 active positive, 2,756 recovered, 37 deaths and Kishtwar has 3,413 positive cases, 397 active positive, 2,990 recovered, 26 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 33,763 positive cases, 20,786 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
