5/15/2021 10:59:54 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, May 15: As a part of the yearlong celebration of the 75th year of Indian independence ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, a national level slogan writing and poster making competition was organised by Government degree college Sunderbani on theme ‘Philosophy of Gandhi’.
Principal of the college, Vandana Gupta appreciated the students for their participation with such great enthusiasm as this activity witnessed a massive participation of students across nation. Speaking about the theme, she said that the twin cardinal principles of Gandhi's thought are truth and non violence.
Gandhian philosophy is certainly considered by Gandhians as a universal and timeless philosophy. The ideas of truth and nonviolence, which underpin the whole philosophy, are relevant to all humankind. Gandhian philosophy embodies numerous Western influences to which Gandhi was exposed, but being rooted in ancient Indian culture and harnessing eternal and universal moral and religious principles, there is much in it that is not at all new. This is why Gandhi could say: "I have nothing new to teach the world. Truth and nonviolence are as old as the hills."
Programme was coordinated by Sheraz Kousser and Beant Singh. The judges for this event were Mohd Azam, Paras Shastri and Mukesh Sharma, assistant professors of GDC Sunderbani.
In the poster making and slogan writing competition, 60 participants from different institutions of higher education across the country participated. Ist position was secured by Paridhi Saxena from Bhagwant Group of medical Science, UP, 2nd Position was secured by Ananya Rout from DAV public school unit 8, Bhubaneswar, Odisha and Subhadarsini das from k.k.s women's college Balasore, Odisha. 3rdposition was secured by R Rajamurugan from SSM college of pharmacy, Chinniampalayam Pudur, Jambai Village, Bhavani Taulk, Erode District, Tamilnadu, Neha Sharma from GDC Sunderbani and and Soma Shalini Bara from Ranchi, Jharkhand.
