5/16/2021 12:01:46 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, May 15: A Jammu based NGO, People’s Hut Foundation, on Saturday started sanitising vulnerable places for coronavirus in the city.
The team members of the NGO claimed that the anti-virus spray will be very effective against all kinds of viruses. The move was launched by its directors Rohit Koul and Vikas Pandita, here on Saturday.
Founder director and CEO of the foundation, Koul said, “We have initiated spraying at high-level surfaces to kill the virus at vulnerable places in Jammu like the hospitals. We have initiated spraying from Govt. Medical College, Bakshi Nagar Jammu.
Then we will disinfect religious places, police stations and other such offices.”
The participating team members of PHF namely Ketan Kumar, Pankul Abrol ,Amit Kumar, Aman Kumar, Ashish Koul and Suraj Koul claimed that the NGO has procured heavy-duty disinfecting spray machines, safety gears for this drive and are disinfecting the buildings, state transport buses, marketplaces, etc. So, we have bought similar equipment and surface disinfectant chemicals. It has no side-effects and is effective against coronavirus. We are making these efforts under the guidance of pest control experts,” said Vikas Pandita.
The complete sanitization drive was done under the technical supervision and support of Vikas Koul who is a genetic scientist and Advisory Board member of People’s Hut Foundation and he added “Mass awareness campaigns about Covid 19 by the government targeted for people living on the streets must be urgently started. The homeless and destitute have very less or no awareness about COVID-19 precautionary measures.
Government has been using mostly virtual mediums to spread information. Most of the homeless community are illiterate and do not use mobile phones, radio etc.
This limits their access to information about the pandemic. The government should ensure community-based direct information campaigns along with registered NGOs to bridge the information gap.
