District admin Ramban braces up for setting up Panchayat covid wards

RAMBAN, May 20: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, today reviewed follow up action on the decision taken by the Government to create 5-bedded Covid Care facility at Panchayat level in the J&K UT, here at a meeting.
The meeting also discussed the implementation of the MUMKIN scheme, a customized livelihood generation programme launched for aspiring youth along with financial assistance to the labour community.
Chief Planning Officer, Kasturi Lal; District Panchayat Officer, Sunil Bhutyal; Chief Medical Officer, Mohammad Fareed Bhat; ALC, Angrez Singh and AD Employment, Naresh Kumar attended the meeting.
The DPO informed the meeting that DDC and BDC members have been briefed about the allocation of Rs.1.00 lakh to be made from within the Panchayat grants for setting up of 5-bedded Covid Care facility at Panchayat level.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that the need has been felt to create a basic minimum facility for isolation of covid patients at Panchayat level as many households do not have the option available within their houses. He also advised the DPO to immediately coordinate with CMO to identify the locations for setting up isolation wards in each Panchayat of the district.
The DPO informed that the directions have been given to BDOs to contact respective Tehsildars and BMOs to identify suitable location at all 144 Panchayats of the district.
While reviewing the MUMKIN scheme, AD Employment informed the meeting that in all 26 applications have been received so far.
These cases shall be shortly brought before the District Level Implementation Committee for approval and bank finance.
Under MUMKIN, aspiring youth can avail benefits for procuring light commercial vehicles for generation of livelihood under subsidized norms.
The Deputy Commissioner exhorted the AD Employment to widen the scope of MUMKIN and bring more progressive youth under the ambit of the scheme.
On the issue of vaccination of construction workers who are yet to take the first dose, the ALC said that reconnaissance has been done and a detailed lists will be shared with CMO to facilitate inoculation of left out workers along with their extended families, if they fall within the age appropriate category. He informed the DC that the financial assistance to the tune of Rs.1.65 crore stands debited into the account of 16,568 construction workers as covid assistance.
The ALC apprised the meeting that 300 additional labourers shall be provided financial assistance under Covid relief today.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the ALC to ensure early renewal of the expired labour cards of the remaining construction workers so that they are also able to avail the financial assistance announced by the Government.
There are 22,777 registered labour card holders in the district.
