COVID-19: Poor people prefer home over hospitals | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 20: Despite authorities claiming about taking effective steps to contain the mortality rate in GMC Jammu causalities are mounting. Many poor people, who could not afford treatment at private hospitals, preferred to keep their sick patients at home. An increasing number of 'brought dead' cases in the Jammu region reflect that people are not visiting the government hospitals. People are aghast over deaths in the government hospitals, while influential and rich patients are visiting private hospitals for treatment. Social media is flooded with posts regarding increasing mortality rate at GMC Jammu. On Thursday out of a total of 67 deaths reported in J&K, 17 Corona patients lost their lives at GMC Jammu only. Similarly, seven more patients were declared ‘brought dead’ in the same hospital. |
