Early Times Report

Jammu, May 20: After dejected from the local administration over the failure in opening of Sinthan top road that connects Kishtwar district with Marwah and Warwan valley through shortest possible road, Chairman District Development Council Kishtwar Pooja Thakur urged upon the Lt. Governor to intervene into the matter and order for immediate opening of prestigious Sinthan road so that the problems faced by the inhabitants of Marwah and Warwan could be mitigated.
As per the details available with Early Times, DDC Chairperson Kishtwar sent a communication to LG requesting for opening of Sinthan Road connectivity between Kishtwar to Marwah/Warwan at an earliest as the people are facing acute medical emergencies and shortage of essential commodities during this challenging 2nd phase of Covid-19 pandemic.
“I would like to draw your attention towards above mentioned subject with hope of instant solution to the problems faced by the people of Marwah and Warwan” DDC Chairperson wrote in her letter addressed to LG-the copy of which is available with Early Times.
“The Sub Division Marwah is very far flung area of district Kishtwar having total population of more than 40,000 souls.
The only Link Road which connects Marwah with the rest of District is Sinthan road which remains closed during winters due to snowfall. This road serves as vital link between Marwah/Warwan and the rest of the state as this is the only Link through which road transport facility is available to this far flung corner of the state” Pooja Thakur told Early Times.
She said that this road provides the people of the area with easy and affordable access to all the life line activities.
“In addition to this road link helps to streamline the rate of daily use commodities which otherwise (when the road is closed) rocket up to an unaffordable hike” Thakur said and added that this road link also serves as the shortest and most affordable passage for the unemployed people of the area who venture out to cities/towns for earning their livelihood.
She said that although this road link is inaccessible during the winter months due to heavy snow fall, but by the dedicated affords of the concerned agencies the road link is made accessible for the poor and forgotten souls of the area in the month of April on regular basis— but this year the same is being delayed for the reasons beyond our knowledge aggravating the miseries of the people.
“Requested to your paramount (LG) self to kindly issue the instructions to the concerned agencies to work on war footing to make this road accessible to the poor and suppressed people to the area at an earliest,” she maintained and said that after Mughal road— Sinthan road awaits for making accessible to the poor people of Marwah and Warwan.
