People friendly decision
5/20/2021 11:53:53 PM

The Jammu and Kashmir government led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has taken yet another people friendly decision by announcing setting up of 5-bed Covid care center in each Panchayat.
Setting up of these centers will help in providing immediate medical attention to the people who are symptomatic and need treatment. These small steps can go a long way in building up the health infrastructure in the union territory.
The second wave of COVID-19 has brought to fore the difficulties that people are facing due to infrastructure not being upto the mark. The health sector needs to be improved as it appears that COVID-19 is there to stay with us.
We need small and big health centers to tackle the situation that could emerge in coming days. Since the day second wave of COVID-19 has hit J&K, LG Manoj Sinha has been leading from the front. He has kept the administration on toes. Besides asking the officials to set up the 5-bedded Covid care centers, LG Sinha has directed the Health Department to strengthen other public health facilities including sub-centres, health and wellness centers, and primary health centers for testing and referral of cases with co-morbidity or low oxygen saturation to the higher centers.
The Lieutenant Governor is monitoring all the developments closely and is aware about the fact that the people need support at this crucial juncture. People are looking towards the government and are hoping that the helmsmen won’t disappoint them. All of us are caught in a difficult situation. Augmenting the health infrastructure can go a long way in helping the people in distress as the hospitals are full and patients are struggling to find a bed in these facilities. The space has shrunk. More space needs to be created to help the people. The LG led administration has created makeshift facilities but still a lot more needs to be done.
Former regimes in the erstwhile J&K State used to claim that the health sector is the priority but the COVID-19 has proven it beyond doubt that politicians had not done much to improve the infrastructure despite receiving liberal funding from New Delhi.
The present dispensation led by LG Sinha is putting in all the possible efforts to provide facilities to the patients. People need to cooperate and understand the gravity of the situation. The COVID-19 has wreaked havoc and it has to be defeated collectively.
