Cong raise serious concern over mismanagement of ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 1: Senior Congress leader and former minister Mula Ram and President District Congress Committee (DDC) Jammu Rural, Hari Singh Chib have raised serious concern over the mismanagement of the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive for the people belonging to 18-44 years age group. In a joint statement issued here today, the senior Congress leaders said that the heavy rush of people outside vaccine centres without adhering to social distancing that is mandatory goes to show that the Union Territory administration especially the concerned authorities have in fact made mockery of health management system by throwing COVID-19 SOPs to winds. They said that confronting such a serious situation undoubtedly points towards lack of preparedness and homework not done properly before embarking upon this significant vaccination campaign as a result of which instead of overcoming the crisis and saving the people from the deadly virus, it has the potential of resulting in super-spreading of Corona virus. The senior Congress leaders demanded that the Union Territory must immediately multiply the number of vaccination centres across the length and breadth of J&K and ensure proper allotment of slots through Arogya and Covaxin Apps so that there is least scope for overcrowding at these vaccination centres. Mula Ram and Hari Singh also highlighted the problems being faced by the people due to loss of jobs and other sources of their income in the wake of Corona Curfew due to the Covid pandemic. They said that these families are in currently living in penury and are fully dependent on the free food and ration items distributed by the NGOs and other social and political organizations. The senior Congress leaders appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to come to the rescue of these families and immediately announce compensation or financial assistance for them as well as for the unemployed youth, traders, transporters and others who stand affected due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. |
