May mayhem in J&K; 42% COVID deaths reported in one month | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 1: May proved to be the deadliest month in J&K as nearly 42 percent of the total COVID deaths were reported during the last one month. Despite witnessing a surge in the mortalities and numbers of positive cases, the administration of J&K has a sigh of relief as during the last 15 days recoveries surpassing positive cases. A record 1624 corona infected patients died this month out of a total of 3907 deaths, which means 41.56 percent of total deaths were recorded in the single month of May. Out of 1624 deaths, the Jammu district alone witnessed 589 deaths, which is 36.24 percent of the total deaths of J&K. Experts expect the situation to improve in the month of June. According to data from the National Health Mission, the first case of corona infection was registered on March 9 last year. But the cases started increasing in the month of July. From 9 March to 30 June 2020, 101 corona-infected patients had died. But in the month of July, 276 patients died. In August, 326 patients died. A maximum number of 478 patients died in the month of September. After this, the cases of infection started decreasing in the month of October. In the month of October, 297 patients died. But the second wave proved fatal in Jammu and Kashmir. On May 1, cases started increasing rapidly in Jammu and Kashmir. Even experts from the health department did not think that deaths would happen in this way. But suddenly the cases started increasing and the chain of deaths also increased. 1624 corona-infected patients died within a month. |
