Rise above politics to seek district status for RS Pura: Tony
‘Restore statehood before elections’
6/26/2021 11:38:13 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

RS PURA, June 26: Continuing with his spree of raising local issues one after another, DDC member Suchetgarh Taranjit Singh Tony on Saturday asked all the political leaders to shun differences and unitedly fight for the district status of R S Pura.
Tony raised the issue while chairing a meeting of Panchs and Sarpanchs to hold threadbare discussion and find solutions for the problems being faced by the people of R S Pura and adjoining villages.
During the meeting, the DDC member vociferously demanded district status for R S Pura after inclusion of Suchetgarh, Bishnah and Miran Sahib under its ambit in the ongoing Delimitation exercise.
The DDC member said that this demand has been pending for the last many years and the time is ripe to give a nod to the same for ensuring development of the region in a real sense. He categorically made an appeal to all the political heads of the region to diffuse differences and come under one umbrella to mount pressure on the government to take the required initiative in this direction so that people can have better facilities and avail upto the mark services after the upgradation of R S Pura to a District.
Expressing contentment over APM called by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that consensus reached on all issues in the aforesaid meeting is a good sign for J&K but there is dire need that statehood be restored on priority.
“It will be in the interest of all that first the J&K gets back its statehood and then it goes for elections because holding elections while J&K is a UT will not serve the purpose due to arbitrariness of its status”, Tony said and anticipated that government will soon pay heed to the demand and will restore statehood before the delimitation and the elections.
