JKMPCL increase pouch milk prices by Rs 2 | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 7: J&K Milk Producers' Cooperative Limited, hereby announces the increase in the Snowcap milk prices by Rs 2 per litre across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir from 8th of July 2021 onwards. The new prices will be applicable on all snowcap variants including Shakti, Taaza, Slim N Trim, as revealed by Shri Manoj Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, JKMPCL which markets Snowcap brand of milk and milk products. He said the increase in the milk prices became necessary due to the increased cost for packaging has gone up by 30 to 40 per cent, the transportation cost by 30 per cent, and the energy cost by 30 per cent, which eventually led to the increase in the input cost. Manoj, said that given the increase in input costs, our associated milk producing farmers are demanding to increase in procurement price. To support the milk producers of J&K, JKMPCL has announced the increase of farmgate price in the range of Rs 20 to Rs 30 per kg fat. The increase of Rs 2 per litre translates into a 4% increase in MRP, which is much lower than average food inflation. The price hike in turn will benefit milk producers because as per the modus operandi of JKMPCL, almost 80 paise of every rupee paid by consumers for milk is passed to the milk producers. Manoj Kumar further said that JKMPCL has achieved a sustainable & assured market for selling of Milk & Milk products as result of which, JKMPCL is able to dispose-off all the milk collected from farmers of Jammu & Kashmir. During the odd times like covid restrictions and curfews when local market was operating under restrictions, sale of all brands has gone down drastically, but JKMPCL has continued milk collection to support the livelihood of local milk producers. JKMPCL has almost doubled its milk procurement volumes during last one year and is envisaging furthering expanding milk procurement base by way of incorporating uncovered dairy villages in Jammu & Kashmir vis-à-vis installation of more cold-chain infrastructures in the catchment areas of farmers. |
