| KVK Reasi organizes training programme for tribal farmers under TSP | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 7: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) conducted one day training programme on 'Agri-entrepreneurship for rural development' under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) project here at Padder village in Thuroo block.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Dr. S K Gupta. Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist &Head of KVK, Reasi initiated the programme with the warm welcome of the participants. He gave a detailed view of agri-entrepreneurship and urged farmers to adopt the latest agricultural technologies so that they can start entrepreneurship in agriculture. He guided the farmers on scientific cultivation of cereals, pulses, oilseeds, fruits, vegetables, poultry farming etc.
Dr. Suja Nabi Qureshi, scientist spoke on production technologies in horticulture. He emphasized on the cultivation of walnut and pecan nut in the area. He further added that hilly areas have immense potential in organic fruits and vegetables and added that farmers can fetch more prices by growing the organic fruits and vegetables. He also guided farmers on vegetables and fruit processing etc.
Anil Thakur, Agriculture Extension Officer, Department of Agriculture spoke on the various agricultural schemes undergoing in the district for the welfare of the farmers. He also spoke on doubling the farmers' income. |
