Srinagar, Jul 10 (UNI) The moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) on Saturday announced that there would be no rallies on July 13 as on this day in 1931 police during Dogra rule killed 22 people outside the central Jail, Srinagar. Official functions were being held on this day every year since 1948 at “ Mazaar Shoudah” in the down town city till 2020 when no official function or holiday was observed. The HC, headed by Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq, who is under house arrest since August 5, 2019, in a statement here this afternoon said 22 Kashmiris were killed on July 13, 1931 outside the central jail, Srinagar where case of Abdul Qadeer Gazi for questioning the rulers was being heard.
The statement said people of Kashmir on this were holding rallies at Mazaar Shoudah to pay tributes to them, this year no such rallies will be organized due to COVID protocol being in force for the safety of the people.
