Kashmir netas speak one language in New Delhi, other at home | Dougli Zubaan ! | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 10: Even as some of the politicians of Kashmir have long been accused of double-speak, they don’t seem to have mend their ways even after the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. The alleged double speak of the politicians from some of the regional parties in Kashmir, including National Conference, Peoples Democratic Part, Peoples Conference and the Apni Party, has again come to fore since their meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, followed by the visit of the Delimitation Commission to Jammu and Kashmir. While the Peoples Democratic Party, President, Mehbooba Mufti after meeting the PM said the talks were fruitful, she ended up not meeting the Delimitation Commission. While the National Conference in a formal letter to the Delimitation Commission have welcomed the delimitation exercise, the party leaders after the meeting the visiting delegates have been telling people that they have reservations over the long awaited exercise to redraw Assembly constituencies. Aga Ruhulla, a senior National Conference leader, on the other hand, has hailed the Peoples Democratic Party for not meeting the Delimitation Commission. As about the Peoples Conference, President, Sajad Lone, his then party colleague Muzaffar Hussain Baig at the meeting with the Prime Minister had distanced himself from the PC. But while coming out of the 7 Lok Kalyanmarg Residence of the PM, both Sajad Lone and Muzaffar Baig drove back sitting on the back seat of the same car and told media that the meeting remained very positive. A few days later, Sajad and Baig parted ways. CPIM leader MY Tarigami who was the spokesman of the so called Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Decleration or PAGD, after meeting the PM, had not been “so affirmative” about the talks whereas other leaders had expressed optimism. A political observer said “The Modi government has exposed the true colors of the Kashmir politicians who speak one language in New Delhi and the other one at home.” Despite repeated attempts the said politicians were not available for comments. |
