District Bar Association Kathua submit memorandum to Judge of J&K High Court | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, July 10: The delegation of District Bar Association Kathua led by its President Advocate Ajat Shatru Sharma submitted a memorandum to the Judge of J&K High Court Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul regarding their demands and suggestions for the welfare of Advocates of District Kathua during his visit to Kathua for the inauguration of National Lok Adalat here today at District Court Complex Kathua by DLSA. There were various genuine demands & suggestion which are required for welfare of Advocates of District Kathua which are mainly includes to increase the pace of ongoing construction work of new building of court complex of District & Sessions Court Kathua which is stopped temporarily at present with priority to Lawyers Chambers Complex with all necessary facilities, allotment of space for the well-furnished, neat & clean separate Canteen Facility & Juice Corner for Lawyers on Make Shift Arrangement, Up-gradation of Bar Library with new central law books/Journals/Latest Digital Judgments Software, shifting of Juvenile Justice Board from current private building to Govt. building located in the Veterinary Hospital Complex Kathua near District Court Complex and main demand was immediate release of financial assistance in favour of Advocates & their Office Clerks(Munshi) affected due to second wave of Covid-19 pandemic. President DBAK Ajat Shatru Sharma while submitting said that from the march 2020 the court work affected and courts were not functioning for physical hearing and from April 2021 due to second wave of Covid-19 pandemic again courts were closed for physical hearing, as a result the practicing Advocates especially young advocates and office clerk of Advocates affected badly as their only source of livelihood i.e. Advocacy/Lawyering came into jeopardy. They are suffering serious financial problems. It has came to our knowledge that UT Govt. again given financial assistance required to be disbursed to COVID-19 affected advocates but till date distressed and needy advocates did not get any financial assistance from J&K High Court being also being bestowed with the powers of State Bar Council for J&K and Ladakh. So it is very humbly prayed that financial assistance may kindly be released in favour of all distressed/needy advocates and their office clerks (Munshi) of District Kathua by taking the concerned elected Bar Associations into confidence so that proper and genuine cases be addressed on priority. Through the said memorandum the delegation of Bar also request to consider their above demands & suggestions by passing appropriate directions to the concerned authorities as early as possible in interest of Advocates across the entire Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir in general and District Kathua in particular. Also the above memorandum may be considered as a "Petition PIL" for all or any of the public interest issues mentioned above in the said memorandum. |
