Cultural Institutions in J&K needs revamping, advocates Asheish Nijhawan | Natrang's National Theatre Talk show | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 10: Recipient of 'Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Purasakar' in Theatre Direction from Sangeet Natak Akademi, Asheish Nijhawan was featu red today in 'Young Voices of Theatre', a unique National Theatre Talk Show by Natrang where he shared his inspirational views with the global audience at the Facebook page of Natrang Jammu. Born in Srinagar, Asheish Nijhawan is an Indian Actor, Director, Scenographer and an acting teacher. He is popularly known for his portrayal of Aftab Khalid in the Netflix series Bard of Blood (2019). His portrayal of the negative part that too in his debut is so engrossing and natural, that he is being seen as the find of the year in the industry. He is an Inlaks Shivdasani International Scholar with specialization in Lecoq`s Pedagogy from London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA), London and a graduate of National School of Drama (NSD). He has also been associated with NSD Repertory Company as an actor for two years. In an engaging conversation with Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee actor and Natrang's senior artist Anil Tickoo, Asheish narrated his eventful journey of theatre. He considers himself blessed because of his father, he was connected with arts since childhood and had attended many arts workshops. Asheish is of the view that Theatre is a direct medium which shares energy with the audience. Speaking about the corona crises when arts got severely suffered, he is hopeful that theatre would make a massive comeback He also revealed few of his future projects. He acknowledged that it was a great experience to work with Vidhu Vinod Chopra in the making of the movie 'Shikara'. To the youngsters, he advises to not go for short cuts and prepare yourself thoroughly not superficially. Asheish strongly believes that art institutions in J&K urgently require a complete revival only then art would survive and authorities need to support arts otherwise it will make the situation worse and a collective voice is required to be raised. |
