Early Times Report SAMBA, July 10: The farmers of Ramgarh area under the banner of Border Kissan Union (BKU) gathered at the tehsil office Ramgarh to express their resentment against unscheduled electricity cuts. Raising slogans against the authorities, the protesting farmers demanded uninterrupted power supply which is essential for smooth paddy plantation, adding that it is their only source of livelihood. The agitated farmers informed that they need electric supply to run their agricultural pump sets in Kharif season, which is for only three to four months, adding that they are regularly paying electricity bills for 12 months. So, failing to ensure regular power supply in paddy season by the PDD is its weakness as well as fault. Later, the BKU submitted a memorandum for further submission to district authorities for favourable action. Those who participated included president Mohan Singh Bhatti, Prempal, Bacha Choudhary, Capt Jasvir Singh, Ravinder Bhutto, Manjit Singh, Gurmail Singh, Banti, Charanjit Singh and Sukhdev Singh. |
