Pak has not given up | | | Drone attacks at the Indian Air Force Station in Jammu last month had sent the alarm bells ringing as most of the people believed that it was handiwork of terrorists sitting across the Line of Control. There are reports that the bombs which were dropped had a pressure fuse and some elements of the Pakistan Army or the ISI helped terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba in fabricating the IEDs. These bombs that pierced the rooftop of one of the IAF buildings carried less than one kg of RDX and a cocktail of other chemicals whereas the one that was dropped on the ground contained a little over one kg of the deadly explosives along with some ball bearings. These attacks are being investigated but the initial findings indicate that our rogue neighbor had helped the LeT to carry out these strikes. When India and Pakistan armies agreed to maintain ceasefire along Line of Control in February this year experts were of the opinion that our neighbor cannot be trusted or relied upon as the past experiences have been bitter. During the past four months no ceasefire violations have taken place along the LoC but the terror infrastructure continues to remain intact and terror groups are making every possible attempt to keep militancy alive in Kashmir. The drone attacks could be a part of the changed strategy of the terror groups to create uncertainty so that the guns start roaring again and they could carry on with their nefarious activities. Indian leadership is aware of the fact that Pakistan and the leaders of militant groups won't sit quietly. In order to counter their plans a strategy needs to be framed to nip the evil in the bud. Maintaining silence would encourage the elements in Pakistan to send in more drones across the LoC. The attacks on IAF Station in Jammu can't be taken lightly. India's desire for peace should not be considered as its weakness. Pakistan is in no position to dictate terms as the entire world knows that it has turned into a fertile breeding ground for terrorists and it has been espousing their cause for a long. The neighbouring country continues to figure in the "Grey List" of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and if it doesn't mend its ways it would slip into the "Black List." India has to keep on maintaining pressure on Pakistan to thwart its ugly plans. |
