Water logging, submerging of some areas in Jammu exposes Smart City Project: Apni Party
7/12/2021 11:35:05 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 12: Apni Party, District President, Jammu (Urban), Pranav Shagotra today expressed anguish over the water logging and submerging of several residential colonies during heavy rains due to the failure of Jammu Municipal Corporation for poor drainage system.
Speaking at a meeting of Party leaders and workers of Jammu District at Gandhi Nagar in Jammu, Shagotra said that the smart city project had failed before it could have taken off in Jammu because of the poor drainage system and as a result, it damaged properties worth lakhs and caused great inconvenience to the common masses in Jammu City.
The meeting was attended by State General Secretary, Youth Wing, Abhay Bakaya, District Vice President, Jammu Urban, Vaibhav Mattoo, District President Trade Union, Anirudh Vasist, Atul Sharma, Ashraf, Prikshit, Suhail Khajuria, Shardeeh Rana, Mohammed Asif, Deepak Bradu, Jatinder Singh, Irfan, Sahid, and others.
He said that the heavy rains have brought a nightmare for the residents of several areas of Jammu City as the drains were choked with garbage and waste material which led to flash floods in many areas.
"The losses should be assessed by the authorities and compensation should be given to the people who have suffered damage due to the flash flood due to heavy rains," said Pranav Shagotra. He said that the BJP has again been exposed for its hollow slogans and promises to the people of Jammu on the name of Smart City.
"The Smart City project seems to have been grounded before take-off and there is no development in the city of temples. The developmental projects have been going on with snail pace. The people have complaints against the administration and the BJP as they failed to provide good governance," said the Apni Party District President of Jammu.
The widening work of Jammu - Akhnoor highway has created a mess for the shopkeepers and commuters which needs to be addressed and progress of the widening work should be monitored every week, added Pranav Shagotra.
