GDC Basohli organizes "Paper Bag day"

BASOHLI, July 12: On the occasion of 'Paper Bag Day', Govt. Degree College, Basohli, organised an online 'Paper Bags Workshop' as a fun activity for team building and developing awareness in Community.
Dr. Gotam Lalotra, in his welcome address, stressed upon avoiding the se of polythene bags and moving towards biodegradable paper bags for the betterment of the environment and as a new avenue for employment.
The resource person of the seminar, Sanjogita Dogra, discussed the various advantages of paper bags. She said that the students might use this opportunity for working as a unit to make the community aware of the importance of use of paper bags.
The resource person then gave a detailed demonstration for making various types of paper bags, using newspapers, used papers and other waste materials.
The students participated actively in the workshop and made their own paper bag. Dr. Papinder Kumar, Coordinator, IQAC, presented the vote of thanks. The proceedings were attended by 147 undergraduate students of various Semesters along with faculty members, Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Gupta, Dr. R.K. Manhas, Prof. Pawan Kumar, Dr. Kehar Singh, Prof. Suresh Barwal, Shiv Kumar, Prof. Brham Dutt, Dr. Shiv Mangal Singh, Dr. Jeevan Kashyap, Sandeep Kumar and Sandeep Sharma.
The principal of the college, Dr. Nidhi Kotwal appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee, to spread awareness regarding ill effects of plastic bags and use of paper bags to preserve our planet for future generations. She encouraged the students to participate in such kind of activities and use their leisure time in making paper bags for their day-to- day use or as gift for their dear ones.
