Titas Dutta narrates her theatre journey in Natrang's Theatre Talk | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 12: Natrang's National Theatre Talk Show, 'Young Voices of Theatre' featured theatre actor, performance developer and instructor, London International School of Performing Arts alumni, Titas Dutta today who shared her inspirational thoughts with the global audience at the Facebook page of Natrang Jammu. A post graduate from London International School of Performing Arts, Titas Dutta has been a practicing theatre maker and performer for more than a decade, working for NSD Repertory Company, The Company Theatre, Shapeshift Collective and many more national and international theatre companies. She was a delegate from India for UNESCO ITI chair WFTS conference in Romania in 2012 and travelled and performed extensively across Europe, Australia and Asia for most of her performing career so far. In an engaging discourse with Natrang's senior artist Neeraj Kant, Titas narrated her theatre journey. She has been doing theatre since childhood and considers theatre to be an integral part of her life. Expressing her heartfelt gratitude towards those who have helped in shaping her personality, Titas asserted that she learnt a lot while working in NSD repertory. Moreover, training at London International School of Performing Arts was also an enlightening chapter of her life. For her, the great Indian scripture on theatre, Natyashastra is a handbook for every theatre practitioner and she could decode its elements while working under guidance of K. N. Panicker at NSD. She believes in breaking stereotypes and clichés with her unconventional work. Full-time professional theatre practitioner, Titas admits that it is very difficult to generate funds for theatre and shared that she along with her team does a lot of skilled activities like baking cakes, preparing soaps, t-shirts, bags etc. and generate funds for the smooth functioning of their theatre activities. Speaking about her process of mounting a production, she reveals that while preparing the body for performance, she prepares the mind too. She also opines that the Corona crises would further shrink the already meager support system for arts, but we need not no complain but try to be self-reliant with our resolute work as theatre is very important for society. |
