Rotary club organises Van Mahotsav at Katra

JAMMU, July 12: Rotary Club of Jammu City (RCJC) organised Van Mahotsav at Dheerthi Dharore, Katra and planted over 500 saplings at CRPF 6th Battalion Headquarters here today.
The tree plantation drive was organised in collaboration with CRPF 6th Battalion and Department of Social Forestry, Udhampur.
Speaking on the occasion Rtn. Sandeep Beri, President, RCJC said that Rotary was committed to the cause of protecting the environment and also bringing solace to the economically weaker sections of our society. RCJC will continue in its efforts to take up the socially relevant causes in future also, he added.
Jitendra Kumar Gupta, Commandant, 6th Battalion CRPF welcomed the members of RCJC and lauded their efforts in taking up the causes that are important for the society. He expressed his resolve to plant 9000 plants during the current rainy season in and around Katra.
Abhinav Rahmotra, DFO, Social Forestry, Udhampur Division, also spoke on the occasion and said that the importance of protecting the environment got re-emphasised during the current pandemic when people were gasping for breath and finding it difficult to arrange even a single cylinder of oxygen for their loved ones affected by COVID-19.
Rtn. Karuna Gupta, Secretary, informed the gathering that for more than 116 years, the guiding principles of Rotary have been service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership. Rotary members believe that we have a shared responsibility to take action on our world's most persistent issues.
Rtn. Sourabh Sethi, the Project Director of the programme, expressed his deep gratitude towards everyone who participated in the programme and hoped that RCJC would continue to receive support from them in their future programmes too.
The Rotarians present on the occasion expressed their resolve to continue with the tree plantation drive in future also. They also pledged to take up various projects during the year to help the needy sections of the society.
Many prominent citizens also attended the programme and expressed satisfaction at the progress of philanthropic work undertaken by Rotary Club of Jammu City. Members and office bearers of the Club who attended the programme included Rtn. Adeep Mehta, Rtn. Arun Sabharwal, Rtn. Sanjay Puri, Rtn. Deepali Sharma, Rtn. Jaswinder Kuku Singh, Rtn. Sanjay Gupta, Rtn. J.D.Singh, Rtn. Ravinder Kaul, Rtn. Sunny Gupta, Rtn. Prashant Kahlon and Rtn. Harvinder Singh.
