BJP left Gangyal again to drown by reducing with of drainage: Satish Sharma
7/13/2021 12:13:10 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, July 12: Rainfall has created panic among the people of the lower areas of Gangyal in such a way that people are leaving their essential items of their homes and vehicles etc in the homes of relatives or acquaintances living at higher ground.
Not only this, the water gets inside the house, people are building a wall with 6 feet on the main gate outside their houses, people are afraid that if rainfall comes while they are sleeping at night, then there would be major disaster at hand.
The rainfall which started from late night lasted till morning and the main drain of Gangyal overflowed and water entered the houses of the people after which people started drawing water from their homes and draining it. People are cursing the municipal corporation.
During the time of the Congress government, and former Minister Raman Bhalla , Satish Sharma had started the work of getting the drain paved and then the width of the drain was kept at least 50 feet, but later on after changing of the government, the drain work started at the time of BJP they reduced its width greatly.
Satish Sharma, the former chairman of the Jammu Municipal Corporation, who came to take stock of the situation, met the victims and called the Municipal Corporation. Taking a jibe, we have told the administration many times that by reducing the width of this drain, the BJP has left the residents of Gangyal to drown in rain water.
He said that during the time of congress government, then minister Raman Bhalla had sanctioned Rs 70 crores from Asian Development Bank and handed it over to IRA so that this drain would be paved. But after coming to power, BJP has wasted Rs 70 crores.
