SRINAGAR, July 15: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by Residents of Gulberg Colony Peerbagh claiming that the respondents in particular the Srinagar Municipal Corporation should address to the problem of water logging in the area and comprehensively prepare a strategy in consultation with the Environmentalists, Planners, Scientists and eminent Engineers to tackle the aforesaid problem.
The petitioners also want that the water channels previously in existence may be preserved and developed. The petitioners highlighting their grievance have submitted a representation dated 03.06.2020 to the Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
A Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Sanjay Dhar disposed of the PIL with the direction that Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, may consider the grievance of the petitioners as has been highlighted by them in the representation aforesaid or any other representation which may be filed by them within two weeks.
In case any representation is filed, the Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation may consider the same along with the representation dated 03.06.2020 in accordance with the law most expeditiously by passing a speaking order in consultation with any authority he may deem fit. —JNF
