NBF appeals LG to promote protesting students

Jammu, July 15: Expressing astonishment over declaring some students as having failed in the class 10 examinations despite having announced mass promotion to all the students of this class, Nirbhay Bharat Foundation (NBF) has sought demanded Lt Governor Manoj Sinha’s immediate intervention into the matter so that the affected class 10 students who have been protesting for long are promoted to the next class without any delay.
In a statement issued to media here today, Tarun Uppal, Chairman of Nirbhay Bharat Foundation said that due to two successive waves of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) did not conduct examinations for class 10 students. He said that the cancellation of exams was announced on Twitter through the official handle of the office of the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
Uppal said that education of students was severely affected due to this pandemic and substantial number of students of Jammu and Kashmir was unable to attend online classes due to absence of high speed internet and in some cases the students could not afford to mobiles due to economic hiccup. He said that when earlier government had announced mass promotion for class 10 students, how some students have been declared to have failed now.
