National Youth Awardees Federation of India holds meeting

JAMMU, July 15: An official meeting of National Youth Awardees Federation of India, J&K convened at Circuit House Jammu which was chaired by Bhikhu Ramji Idati, Chairman of DWDNC, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India.
The meeting began with a formal welcome address and brief introduction of participants by Kiran Kumar Sharma, General Secretary, NYAFI, J&K. On the occasion, number of issues of J&K youth in general and national youth awardees in particular were discussed.
The awardees showed great concern over the non sports activities in the state and discussed union govt. model of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. It is pertinent to mention that youth services department in J&K is non functional over the decades. The federation demanded that there is a need to form a J&K non sports youth council who will work directly under the Ministry of Youth services, J&K for the well being of non sports youth. There should be a separate budget allocation for the youth council for smooth functioning.
All the national awardees should be made members of state level, regional level and district level council. This body must be made independent of Nehru Yuva Kendra, NSS and should have their own state level policy framework according to diverse needs of the youth. Ravi Sharma, Deputy Director youth services and sports, J&K assured to take up the matter seriously and will act as soon as possible. He also assured to discuss the matter of including National Youth Awardees in the list of state guest. Surinder Saini, Director NYK accepted that National Youth Awardees are not getting due representation in govt. and assured their participation in state level and district level advisory committee of NYK in J&K.
Bhikhu Ramji Idati ji said that awardees are role model for the youth and their matter should be taken seriously. Bhikhu said that he will take up the matter directly with PM Modi ji and act positively. Manish Gawai, National General Secretary, NYAFI, India motivated the awardees and submitted memorandum of demands to various state, provincial, and district level officials to do needful for the well being of awardees. The meeting was concluded with vote of thanks by Vijay Kumar on behalf of the federation and honoured the dignitaries in a traditional way.
The meeting was attended by Dy. Director NYK Nissar Ahmed, Ajay Salaan, District Social Welfare Officer Jammu, Sanjeev Baigra, Shakti Parihar, R. D. Parihar, National Youth Awardees, Rahul Aggarwal, Member, NYAFI, J&K and Vivek Parihar, volunteer.
