Court rejects bail plea of lady narco smuggler
7/20/2021 11:00:58 PM

Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 20: Principal Sessions Judge Ramban rejected the bail application of Zareena Begum from whose possession 450 grams charas was recovered.
Principal Sessions Judge Ramban Haq Nawaz Zargar after hearing both the sides observed that If the women of this society is involved in this drug trafficking, one can imagine the damage that had been caused to the society and how deep it had penetrated. It is the duty of every stakeholder, even that of every citizen to check this menace, otherwise it will destroy the very fabric of society. It is pertinent to mention here that the petitioner/applicant had earlier also been found involved in an FIR No. 66 of 2017 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act of Police Station Ramban in which 335 gms of charas was seized. The consumption of drugs is ruining the life of youngsters. The families of the drug addicts, too were not only facing the social stigma but also mental trauma which was required to be curtailed at any cost. Offenders need to be given another chance to come in the mainstream and live a normal life, but where the offender being a lady is repeatedly indulging herself in same activities despite being given a chance, granting bail to her during investigation in such heinous offences would amount to doing injustice to the society and it is a dangerous step for the society. With these observations Court rejected the bail application. —JNF
